Help working families afford child care
This Giving Tuesday, we’re rallying our Cape Cod community to support the families who fall through the cracks — parents who work hard, love deeply, and still struggle to afford the cost of quality child care.
The Challenge
On Cape Cod, many families doing everything right still face child care costs of $4,000–$5,000 a month. They earn too much for aid but not enough to keep up — forced to cut essentials or go into debt just to care for their kids. We call them the missing middle, and this Giving Tuesday, we’re standing up for them.Your Gift Makes a Difference
Every donation helps a working family afford child care — lifting the burden for parents who earn too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to cover the full cost on their own.
Your contribution supports:
- Direct financial assistance for families in need of child care support
- Outreach and awareness to help more parents discover available resources
- The continued growth of All Moms Are Heroes programs on Cape Cod

The Sumner Family — Yarmouth Port, MA
Julia and her husband John both work full time – she’s a school nurse and John’s a teacher in the Monomoy School District. Like so many working parents on Cape Cod, they found that even with steady jobs and careful budgeting, the cost of child care was more than they could manage.
In 2024, as their daughter Emma prepared to start kindergarten and their son Jack entered daycare, All Moms Are Heroes provided a grant that helped relieve the financial strain. For the first time in years, Julia could focus on being present for her children’s milestones instead of working overtime to afford them.
Today, the Sumners are finding balance — and hope — as they build stability for their growing family. Their story reflects the heart of All Moms Are Heroes: empowering hardworking parents who fall into the “missing middle” to keep their families strong.
With the generous support from All Moms Are Heroes, our family has been able to spend more quality time together. Before this scholarship, I often picked up extra nursing shifts after working full-time as a school nurse, just to manage the cost of daycare. With my daughter starting kindergarten and my son in daycare, I wanted to be more present for these special milestones. Thanks to this support, the financial strain of daycare has eased, allowing us to enjoy more time as a family.
with gratitude-
The Sumner Family
